Half Valentine’s Day is a Thing

In a Romance Rut? Could Be Because It’s Been Half a Year Since Valentine’s Day.

Did you know there is such a thing as Half Valentine’s Day? The other day, we made the realization that Valentine’s Day was 6 months ago and a quick Google search quickly confirmed that this too is yet another claimed holiday.

August 14, 2019.

So, if you’ve been longing for some hugs and kisses and romantic goodness, it has nothing to do with Mercury being in retrograde (this time). It’s been a full half year since Valentine’s Day!

Have you and your partner sustained the romantic vibes you summoned up back in February? Is that gift certificate from your partner for a 60 minute massage unused in your junk drawer? Have you done something special for your loved one since then (anniversary and Father’s Day permitting)?

No? Well, you’re in luck and don’t have to wait 6 months to right that wrong.

In all seriousness, we see this date as a tangible reminder to nurture the romance and intimacy in your relationship! Here’s some ideas we have to give some silly marketing holiday purpose.

Identify Your Love Languages

Do you know about The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. The book, published in 1992, essentially identifies the five ways people express and experience love. There’s a free online quiz available that determines which of the five love languages is your preference. If you haven’t already, the quiz is a great tool and resource to use with your partner. Each take it and it could potentially help you identify and understand what is the best way to show love to each other. This can help with everything from choosing how to give gifts to one another on special occasions, to how to show each other you care in your day to day lives.

If you’ve already taken the test, revisit your partner’s love language and choose to do at least one thing in the next week that speaks to his or her unique preferences. This helps make your signs of affection and gift giving more intentional and intimate!

Schedule At Least One Special Trip Together Within the Next 2 Months

Maybe you’ve used up your vacation time this summer for family visits and travel with the kids in tow already. It’s possible you took a big vacation earlier this year and all the fun you had means you’re still paying off your credit card. Maybe you even JUST got back from a trip just like this. We want to challenge you to make arrangements for whatever a “special trip” looks like within your means. 2 months from now will be October, right before the holiday season takes over and the stress of gift giving and family visits takes hold.

You’ll want something to look forward to over the next few months, and to help you reconnect with your partner to head into the holiday season strong.

This can be a staycation at an AirBNB or resort in La Jolla. It can also mean purchasing a local Groupon experience. If you’re due for something more, go ahead and book that flight to Hawaii or camping trip in Yosemite. Whatever that looks like to you and where you’re at, take some time planning with your partner and take that plunge. Book everything now, and before you know it, October will roll around and all you will need to do is enjoy!
