Here’s Your Local Guide to Stroller-Friendly Ways to Enjoy the Sunshine

Spring is behind us. The days are getting longer and the sun is shining brighter! Looking for the best places to stroll your little one this summer? We’re sharing 5 local stroller-friendly spots you and your babies will love. 

You heard that right! Every recommended location is an easy walking trail, suitable for a strolling companion. As always, be sure to pack for the elements for optimum safety and satisfaction: bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and shade!

Anstine Audubon Wildlife Preserve Loop – Vista, CA

Where: 2437 Hutchison Street, Vista, CA 92084

This 0.5 mile loop trail is free and open to the public on Saturdays between 9am and 12pm (closed July through September). Great for bird watching and good place to avoid crowds! No dogs allowed, though.

Carlsbad Sea Wall Trail – Carlsbad, CA

Where: In between Cannon Road and Carlsbad Village Drive on the coast.

This 1.4 mile out-and-back trail is accessible year-round and a popular destination. Offers never-ending views of the beach without getting sand in every nook and cranny. Prepare for direct sun and lots of traffic.

Kit Carson Park – Escondido, CA 

Where: 3333 Bear Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025

This 2.4 mile loop trail features a lake and an amazing sculpture garden. Popular spot to walk dogs and have a picnic lunch.

Discovery Lake and Hills Loop – San Marcos, CA 

Where: 650 Foxhall Dr, San Marcos, CA 92078

This 0.8 mile loop trail offers a little something for all your kid-friendly needs: stroller-friendly paved and partially shaded trail, playground, splash fountain, and a lake with an accessible dock to say hi to the local ducks.

San Luis Rey River Trail – Oceanside, CA 

Where: San Luis Rey River Trail Start, San Luis Rey River Trail, Oceanside, CA 92054

This 8.8 mile paved point-to-point trail is definitely a popular place for cyclists, but is very stroller friendly, and a favorite for parents taking their little one out for an early or after-dinner stroll.
